Te Matatini is the organisation that celebrates and showcases Kapa Haka excellence in Aotearoa and throughout the world. They organise a significant cultural festival by the same name, Te Matatini which is the pinnacle event for Māori performing arts. With the shift in understanding and recognition of how Kapa Haka contributes to the wellbeing of our diverse communities in Aotearoa, Te Matatini has identified its place as a leader to support the growth and potential of Māori.

Mō te tūranga  | About the Role:

This varied role includes coordinating and planning the Kapa Haka festivals and other events/initiatives that Te Matatini manage. You will create project plans, research vendors and manage logistics leading up to and on the day of events. You’ll also work with the communications team to develop content for event materials.

This is a full-time position based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara with some travel required as needed.


Mōu | About You:

As someone who has practical experience in event management and/or Kapa Haka development, you will have the ability to work confidently and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll be able to operate within a kaupapa Māori environment and have an understanding and appreciation of tikanga Māori in this context. Because you have a high level of organisational, communication and negotiation skills, you’ll remain calm under pressure and maintain a customer service mindset.

This is an important role which ensures the smooth running of Te Matatini events. If you have the background and experience we are looking for, we’d love to hear from you.

Ko tētahi wāhi o tēnei tūranga kaupapa matatini he ruruku, he whakamahere i ngā ahurei Kapa Haka me ērā atu rā nunui/kōkiri e whakahaeretia ana e Te Matatini. Ka riro māu e hanga ngā mahere kaupapa, māu e rangahau ngā kaihoko me te whakariterite i ngā tini mahi e tika ana mō mua i te hui, mō ngā rā hoki o te hui.  Ka mahi tahi hoki koe me te tira whakawhiti kōrero ki te hanga ritenga mō ngā rauemi mō te ahurei.

He tūranga wā kikī tēnei kei Te Whanganui-a-Tara, me ōna haerenga i te motu e tika ana.


Mōu | About You:

He tangata tautōhito i roto i ngā mahi whakahaere hui nunui, whakawhanake Kapa Haka hoki/rānei, ka āhei koe ki te mahi ki te huhua o te hunga whai pānga, i runga i te māia me te ngaio. Ka āhei koe ki te mahi i roto i tētahi horopaki kaupapa Māori, ā, ka mārama, ka whakanui hoki koe i ngā tikanga Māori i roto i tēnei horopaki. Nā te mea he tiketike ō pūkenga whakarite, whakawhiti kōrero, takawaenga hoki, ka noho mauritau koe, ka anga katoa ō whakaaro ki te kiritaki.

He tūranga hira tēnei, e rere rōnaki ai ngā rā nunui o Te Matatini. Mehemea i whakangungua koe, he tautōhito hoki koe i roto i ēnei mahi, e tino hiahia ana mātou ki te rongo kōrero mai i a koe.
